Now as for a 3 layer button. You would just create a new image in Paintshop Pro or Photoshop..depending on which you use.I use Paintshop Pro 7.For buttons, and I'll use the "Single Race" button as an example, they need to start off as 178 x 37.Paint,or put your text in this image. Then create another image and size it 178 x 111.Now the first image you made, you will copy and paste into the second image as a layer. Then do 2 more at the first size of 178 x 37 and when those are done, paste them also in this bigger image as layers. You will have to move them so they are 3 layers on top of each other like so:

Single Race
Single Race
Single Race

Then you'll need to use the Magic Wand tool and select everything around your text and make an alpha channel with it.The better, and more readable the text is,the less problems you'll have making the alpha channel.Once you have it with the alpha, save it as a .tga.Then when you have that done, you are ready to make the .img file. This would be the entry using mkimage:

mkimage srace.tga srace.img /a 3

As stated a thousand times, you'll need to get familiar with typing the commands in. As you can see the one above has flags. One for an alpha: /a

And one for the amount of layers the original .tga had: 3

On starting a mod, NHeat displays a "splash screen" - actually the file SPL_SCR, which simply is a 510x385 BMP image

To have a mod specific splash screen show up, for example resize some some nice mod screen background to 510x385,
add a title/banner line to it and save it all as BMP file. Then rename that BMP file to SPL_SCR (without BMP suffix !)
and copy it to your mod's main folder
